The map's wind layer on the Command Center is drawn from the model holding the top spot now (gold). A model takes a spot when its mean wind error against the METARs over the last 7 days is lowest, and keeps it until another model is at least 5% better. The map looks the same whichever model draws it.

Wind error is the difference between the forecast and the reported wind as a vector, in knots: it counts speed and direction together. Each forecast is scored when its hour comes, made 1 to 3 hours ahead. The NWS Honolulu forecast competes too but cannot draw the map, so it cannot hold a top spot.

Radar stays on RainViewer so the map looks the same; the NEXRAD sites are watched for how fresh they are. Planning picture only: check official weather before acting on it.
